Managing Director

Joseph F. Almeida ACII is the Managing Director of Liberty Life Assurance Uganda Limited.

Joseph has a passion for insurance, reading and financial research. He has 40 years of working experience in Life and Pensions, Investment Services, Business Development, People Management, Strategy and has setup various divisions in the Insurance Companies he has worked in over the years.

Prior to joining Liberty Life Assurance Uganda Limited, Joseph worked in various reputable Companies in the insurance industry in Senior Management positions. Some of the Companies in East Africa include and not limited to East African Underwriters Limited, Old Mutual Investment Services Limited, Cannon Assurance Kenya Limited, and Employee Benefit Trustees Limited (ICEA Ltd affiliate).

Mr. Danish Mohammad Eqbal
Principal Officer/CEO

Mohammad Danish Eqbal, ACMA, CGMA, FIII, FLMI, PMP® is the Chief Executive Officer and Principal Officer of Liberty Life Assurance Uganda. He is also the Chief Data & Innovation officer at the company. Danish has around 15 years of professional experience in the areas of Corporate & Business Strategy, Strategic project management & transformation, Business Excellence, Data Science, AI & Enterprise Innovation, Risk management, Strategic Alliances, Financial Planning & Analysis and Insurance Operations among others.

He has been instrumental in setting up and strengthening of Strategy, PMO, Business Excellence, Strategic Alliances and Advanced Analytics units in organizations of high repute. He has worked with globally renowned brands as Tata, AIA, Aviva and Dai-ichi in the aforesaid roles and has driven several multi-million-dollar strategic projects. Prior to joining Liberty, he worked with the fastest growing & third largest life insurer in India (Tata AIA) in Strategy & Business Excellence roles and as Head of Advanced Analytics, AI & Innovation.

Ms. Joan M Musiime
Country Head of Finance

Joan has 22 years of expertise in Insurance, Assurance, Advisory Business Services, Management Advisory Services, and Financial Management. She has worked in the insurance industry for over ten years.

She graduated with honours from Makerere University (B. Com Hons.) and is a member of the Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA-U) and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). She is currently a Master of Business Administration student at Edinburgh Business School.

Mr. Frank Tindyebwa
Country Head of Health

Frank is currently in charge of developing and implementing Liberty Health's business growth strategy. He has 29 years of expertise in the health insurance industry and is well-versed in marketing, customer growth and retention, business development, and strategic planning.

He graduated from Makerere University with a Bachelor of Education degree, which drives his passion for growing and developing people that he works with.

Mr. Davis Mugabi
Head of Risk & Compliance

Davis is an experienced Risk and Compliance professional with over 15 years work experience. This experience spans across Auditing, Banking and Insurance with skills of developing and setting up policies, common processes, competencies, accountabilities, reporting, and the enabling technology to ensure business growth and compliance.

As the Head of Risk and Compliance at Liberty Life Assurance (U) Ltd, Davis is responsible for amongst others creating a comprehensive risk conscious strategy to anticipate, identify, prioritize, manage and monitor the portfolio of business risks impacting the business.

Davis is an International Certified Banking Risk and Regulation Analyst (awarded by the Global Association of Risk Professionals), with a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management, a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Diploma in Law from Law Development Centre. He is also a trainer and consultant in the areas of Operational risk management and regulatory Compliance.

Mr. Richard Sajjabi
Head of IT

Richard is the Head of IT and an EXCO member of both Liberty Life Assurance Uganda and Liberty General Insurance Uganda. He shadows as the Product Owner for the Kenya & Uganda Solution delivery team aimed at driving collaboration with stakeholders to deliver on innovative IT solutions in an agile methodology. He is a highly accomplished IT professional with a strong background in managing and supporting enterprise-wide IT infrastructure in the insurance sector. Richard plays a crucial role in shaping the organization's IT strategy and ensuring its alignment with business goals.

With over 10 years of experience, Richard has delivered numerous successful IT projects, including system developments, roll-outs, API integration with 3rd parties, network design, and implementation. His expertise in IT systems implementation and roll-out is complemented by his proficiency in IT budgeting, service provider management, IT risk, governance, and IT audit.

Richard's membership in the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) demonstrates his commitment to professional development and staying up-to-date with industry best practices. His broad knowledge and experience in IT infrastructure management make him an asset, as he effectively navigates complex IT landscapes and enhances operational efficiency.

Ms. Gloria Besigye
Head of operations

Gloria Besigye holds an MBA from the University of East London and a Bachelor of Library and Information Science from Makerere University of Uganda. In addition, she has been certified in Leadership Development Skills from the Global Leadership Centre in South Africa. She is also certified in Master Class workplace policies and procedures, as well as Leadership in organizations from UNICAF.

Gloria has a professional career of over 15 years in Operations, she has worked as a Claims Administrator, Underwriting Manager and currently heading the Operations department. Her role as Head of Operation entails overall management and oversight of the Operations function of Liberty Life Uganda as well as driving the department’s strategy which includes customer service, data management, data privacy, mitigation of risk and compliance. She also serves as the Data Protection Officer of the Company.

Mr. Francis Kasozi
Head Health Operations

Francis currently heads Liberty Life Assurance Uganda Operations and Health Services and is directly involved in and responsible for Data protection and privacy, Medical advisory services, and Clinical Governance, among other things.

He is a qualified medical doctor with over 10 years’ experience in Leadership and Management of Medical Insurance Services in Uganda's Insurance Industry, as well as 22 years of working experience. He is a dedicated, engaged, self-driven, and self-motivated team player who cares deeply about customer happiness and employee welfare and well-being.He holds the following qualifications & short courses:

Mrs. Juliet Murungi Okwi
Head of Marketing

Juliet has a proven track record of working in the financial services and insurance industries for the past ten years as a Business Development and Marketing Manager. Extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about brand awareness, communication, and customer experience.

She is a chartered marketer who is currently pursuing her MBA at Herriot-Watt University in Scotland's Edinburgh Business School. She holds a professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Nkumba University. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).

She has worked with reputable veteran companies in the finance and insurance sectors.

Ms. Cissy Nanfuka
Head Corporate Sales

Cissy leads the Liberty Corporate division of Liberty Life Uganda. An experienced Business Development and Sales Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the insurance industry for 17 years now in the fields of Medical and Life Insurance. Skilled and passionate about driving business growth.

Cissy is a professional insurer with a diploma in Insurance. She has worked with various reputable brands in the insurance sector. She is Enthusiastic, trustworthy and honest but above all she recognizes the power of team work and integrity.

Ms. Agatha Namara
Head of Retail Business

Agatha has a passion for financial security and spreading the knowledge that financial security is not just about having a large savings account but having control of one’s life and having freedom to make choices about how to live it regardless of one’s current circumstances. She currently leads the Retail and Key Accounts divisions of Liberty Life Assurance Uganda. With 20 years of professional experience under her belt, she has extensive experience from previous roles in the areas of Business Development, Strategy management, People management, Relationship management and Insurance operations.

Prior to joining Liberty Life Assurance, she worked in various reputable insurance, banking, as well as logistics companies.

She holds an Msc in Finance and Accounting, from Makerere University Business School, and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from Makerere University, whilst she currently pursues a Diploma in Insurance.

Ms. Olive Adera
Strategic Projects Manager & Board Officer; Marketing Executive Personal Assistant (MD & CEO)

Olive leverages her 18 years of working experience to identify and satisfy customer requirements profitably, strategically, and sustainably in her current role.

She is a Corporate Governance Professional with a Post Graduate Diploma, and she is currently pursuing her MBA.

She is a member of the following organisations: ACIM, CPEA, ICSA, and DIU. She also appreciates fine arts, design, reading, and travelling in her spare time.
